Abstract

|
The 56 year old man entered with epigastric distress and generalized edema.
His hemoglobin level vas 10. 6gm%, and the stool test revealed occult blood-.
Serum protein level vas 3.4gm%, albumin 1. 6gm %and globulin 1.8gm%. Upper wastrointestinal series showed a pattern of multiple polyposis and confirmed by gastrocamera and gastrofiberscopic examination.
Gastrectomied specimen showed of multiple polyposis, over 120 in number and varying sizeranging mostly from 0.51.Ocm.
The tip of a large polypoid mass at antrum (6.OX6.Ocm) was ulcerated, and microscopic study of this tumor revealed malignant change, while extensive histological study of the rest of disseminated polyps showed no cancerous lesions.
Following subtotal gastrectomy, the serum protein and albumin increased to 5.3gm %and 2.8gm% respectively and discharged on 32th past-op, day.
